Bobbi Brown: Mauve
This summer, makeup artist Bobbi Brown felt it was time to bring back mauve. "Mauve is one of those colors that has been in my head for so many years. It reminds me of the '70s and Ali MacGraw in Love Story," she says. Somewhere between a purple and a brown, mauve has so many varied tones—pale, dusty, vintage, dark—that it looks good on everybody. Here, this retro trend gets a modern makeover. See what the artist used from the Bobbi Brown collection:

Eyes:
Navajo Eye Shadow
Vintage Eye Shadow
Black Mauve Shimmer Ink Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner
Chocolate Mauve Eye Shadow
Black Everything Mascara

Lips:

Chantecaille: Protected Paradise
For this season, Chantecaille creative director Olivia Chantecaille introduced two complementary compacts of ocean-inspired hues. As an added incentive to enjoy this fresh palette, 5 percent of proceeds from the sales of this collection will be donated to vital research on marine preservation. Here, makeup artist Polly Osmond created a dramatic eye by blending green, gray and gold shadows and lining the top and bottom lashes with mascara. The following products from the Chantecaille collection were used:

Eyes:
Protected Paradise Marine Green Eyeliner
Protected Paradise Medium Grey Eye Shadow
Protected Paradise Rose Gold Eye Shadow

Estee Lauder: Bronze Goddess
For Estee Lauder makeup artist Blair Patterson, nothing says summer like perfectly bronzed skin. To sweeten this look, he turned to the sheer shades of the sea and another summertime favorite: fresh saltwater taffy! The face is a matte bronze, with a pop of color on the cheeks for a natural glow. Bright, candy-colored eye shadow, lots of mascara and a sheer gloss for slightly flushed lips complete the look. From the Estee Lauder collection, he used:

Eyes:
Automatic Eye Pencil Duo in Hyacinth Sky

Laura Mercier: Gold Digger
For Laura Mercier makeup artist Barbie Laurino, bronzed bodies and flowing fabrics on the runway inspired a Greek goddess look. The look features a sophisticated, modern smoky eye and nude lips with a bronze hue. Lots of gold shades add luster to the finish. Here's what she used from the Laura Mercier collection:

L'Oreal: Color Pop
For his summer face, makeup artist Collier Strong was inspired by the rich and famous bronzed beauties vacationing on their yachts in the South of France. Working with a palette of warm metallics, he emphasized the eyes with bronze and gold shadows, and added bright teal in the outer corners for a pop of color. Bronzed skin, shimmery cheeks and a transparent coral lip provide the perfect balance without overpowering the look. These products from the L'Oreal collection were used:

Eyes:
High Intensity Pigments Shadow Duo in Wicked
High Intensity Pigments Shadow Pigment in Visionary
Voluminous Mascara in Black
High Intensity Pigments Shadow Duo in Flashy

Nars: Safari
Nars makeup artist Ayako was thinking of a safari vacation when she put together this chic, effortless summer look. It's all about fresh skin and a strong, angular, well-defined eyebrow. The face is powdered lightly—aiming for a satin, non-dewy finish—and a gentle sweep of blush is added. Soft gold shadow for the eyes, eyebrow pencil for defined brows, and a strong red matte lip complete the look. Here are the Nars products used:

Eyes:
Duo Eye Shadow in Alhambra (Golden side)
Brow Pencil in Jodhpur
Single Eye Shadow in Bali

Shu Uemura: Floral
Think flower power this summer. For Shu Uemura makeup artist Jason Hoffman, the "Fleur de Rose" palette—with feminine colors inspired by the beauty of rose, jasmine and ylang ylang flowers—was just what he needed for this fresh, rosy look. To keep it dewy, the eyes are washed in rose with accents of purple and finished with a crisp, thin liquid liner. The lips and cheeks are kept soft and fresh to balance out the eye. Here's what he used from the Shu Uemura collection:

Eyes:
Black Shimmer Liquid Liner

Yves Saint Laurent: Daytime Chic
For Yves Saint Laurent makeup artist Stanley Owings, summer translates into fresh, bright and lots of color. For his daytime-chic look, he reinvents the Pretty in Pink theme. The focus is on soft, fresh skin, lips with a subtle pop of color, and strong brows. To finish, a light foundation is applied on the face. Here are the key products from the YSL collection he used:

Eyes:
Luxurious Mascara
Long-Lasting Eye Pencil

Face:
